Several weeks ago Captain Rogers asked who would be willing to help patrol in emergency situations. He's relayed the information to me. Since everyone has very unique qualities, I will refrain- for now- from making too tight a schedule. However, if the situation is dire enough, please try to take directions as to who has to go where.

I've made a list pairing people according to their strengths.

Iris Wildthyme & Loki Laufeyson.
Sergeant Bucky Barnes & Stephanie Brown & Helena, if she wishes.
Arthas Menethil & Lydia Martin.
Kira Yukimura & Peter Parker. Preferably on deck and the upper levels.
Eugene Sledge & Steve Rogers. Preferably vital areas.
Ben & Souji Okita. Preferably vital areas.
Luna Lovegood & Jax Teller.

[Handwritten lists are left on the doors of those involved!]

Please let me know if you object to any of these, and we will find a way to make this work out as best as we can. In extreme situations we will patrol in shifts of 4 hours, allowing everyone enough rest to work at maximum capacity. Those with increased abilities should feel free to patrol alone or with other teams after their regular shift has finished, of course! But please don't strain yourself, for your sake as much as that of others.

If anyone else would like to volunteer, please let either myself or Captain Rogers know, so we can be as organized as possible. And if everyone feels the arrangements are alright, I believe Miss Lovegood and Miss Wildthyme have offered to help us practice...?

I have no problems at all with my partner and I'll gladly go patrolling with Arthas. But because of what I am, and of what he is, being around him might become a problem with my abilities. If it does, I'll ask to be partnered up with someone else. [If she had control over them, it might not be an issue, but that's not the case.]

Oh, it was no trouble at all! Thank you for your help, Miss Lydia, I think we'll need it!

[She's not entirely sure if he knows about what she is, but if he doesn't ask, she won't confuse him.]

It's okay. I wanna give it a try, it might help me. If it becomes too much, I'll let you know.

[He doesn't know, not entirely-- Steve had told him a little, but no specifics.]

I hope it won't!

I hope so, too.

[She knows these things are a lot of work, and the last thing she wants is to make him feel bad, so she adds:]

Actually, there's something else I wanted to talk to you about.

Vergil's your inmate now, right?

He and I have been talking fairly frequently since he got here. If there's anything I can help you with, let me know?

Oh! Thank you. I didn't know you were friends! Ah, he's very funny sometimes, isn't he? Strong, too.

[Funny is definitely a word for it.]

Yeah. He's saved my life before. And he's been helping me with my abilities. It's somewhat similar to what he has in his world.

[Souji's used to being around grumpy swordsmen; he creates his own fun.]

That's very good of him. I hope he's patient with you, Miss Lydia!

He is, surprisingly so. It's just a shame he doesn't get how good he can be yet. But I'm sure you'll get through to him, Souji.

Ah... I hope so. Thank you for your confidence. He's- a lot like a friend of mine, back home.

Hopefully that'll help you get through to him. He reminds me of someone, too.

Oh - yes, of course, Lydia. [He does appreciate she's willing to give it a try, but he also appreciates that she'll come forward if it doesn't work.] If it's not a good match, we'll make something else work. This isn't about forcing anyone into anything, because that's not going to help any of us, right?

And thanks for the organizational help. I still think the more eyes on this, the better.

It's not, but it might help me find more control if I'm around him more. I wanna try. [She feels a little more confident these days, but not like the other barge version of her did. Not yet. Not that she wants to be like her in any other sense.]

[He considers that, but then he nods, and his smile is definitely approving.] Makes sense to me. How are you ever gonna know what you're capable of if you don't challenge yourself, right?

Especially with this. It's not meant to be a secret. It shouldn't be. It should be about us finding out how we work together best, so we're ready when we need to be. And that might mean making changes and taking other opinions under consideration.

[It might be silly because they're friends, but she feels really good when she sees his approving smile. Like Scott's, Steve's opinion means a lot to her.]

Yep, I figured it'd be a good place to start.

It might be smart to rotate pairings every now and then, anyway. So we can all learn to work with each other.

[Well, she's in its good graces and that's not likely to change.]

It would be smart - and I think we absolutely should. You never know who you're going to end up with during an emergency, and I doubt the Admiral's going to be accommodating and read our roster ahead of time.

Yep, we're kind of on our own here, I think.

Maybe that's for the best. I don't want to be counting on help that never comes.
