[The feed flickers, and then the newly-calm (or perhaps... too calm) Barge is treated to a close-up of half a nose and part of an eye. The close-up is muttering in Japanese, the image occassionally moving]

Should I just say it...? Ah, I should have read it more carefully...

[suddenly the face moves back, revealing a frowning young man. He's lit by a lantern that sits in a corner, just visible in the background. He looks tired, a little bit too skinny and too pale, but he starts beaming when he apparently notices that the camera is already on. He speaks in English from now on]

I did it, huh? [he sits back and waves cheerfully, tucking some of his long hair behind his ear with the other hand]

I guess everyone's been pretty busy the last few weeks, so I hope I'm not disturbing you. My name is Souji Okita, and I'm new here! I'll work hard to fit in, but I'm still getting used to everything, so go easy on this old man... Oh! I walked around a little bit, and it seems pretty dark! If anyone needs them, I found a lantern and some candles in my room. Please ask me if you need help!

[The skinny and pale kind of gets him, for a couple of reasons - but he honestly would have said hello either way, because what a hell of a time to show up here, huh?

So have a guy in a navy and silver uniform, wearing helmet with a mask that covers his eyes. But he looks friendly enough?]

Trust me, another set of hands is a good thing, not a bad one. If you, uh, have any questions, though, I can probably give you answers. About settling in, at least, because I'm as in the dark - literally [a sheepish grin] - as anyone else about things at the moment.

[And your name sounds familiar, but he's not sure you're that guy so he'll just hold off on asking for now.]

[What a mysterious guy! He doesn't really think twice about the mask, figuring he probably looks out of place to this guy. He straightens up at the indication of military rank, but there might be a slight wince as he does so.]

Ah, nice to meet you, Captain! I guess things are a little different at the moment. [laughs a little at the pun, and leans closer to the camera.] I don't suppose there is any way to know who you are going to help aside from just waiting? And do you know how I could help in the meantime?

[he almost definitely is that guy, though he probably looks a lot girlier than Steve had imagined!]

[Which, of course, Steve notices - but he won't mention it just yet. Or maybe at all, it depends on whether you look like you really need help or not.]

Unfortunately, it really is a waiting game with regard to the inmates. But I don't think that should stop you from doing anything you can in the meantime. [A grin - because you don't seem to think so, either.]

At this point, we mainly just need to inventory what we have, make sure the areas that need like have it, and keep an eye on the inmates who don't have a warden. [That smile turns a little sardonic.] There are more than a few of them.

Other than that - anything, uh, you're good at that you think would help out around a ship with no power?

[laughs sheepishly] I wish I had paid more attention outside of the compound, now! I can cook, but ah, I don't think an open fire would be very smart here. Besides that, I can only offer protection to those who need it. Is there... something like a patrol?

Well, good cooks are never anything to complain about - plus, there was talk about cooking up on deck if fire's a concern.

Although there is something like a patrol, and I wouldn't turn down having a hand with that, either, if you're interested.

I didn't say I was a good cook, Captain! I said I can cook, but only what's necessary on the road! Or... in space, I suppose!

[he taps his cheek a little] I think I'm more used to patrolling, though. Ah, but I'm... not in top condition at the moment. [he has to admit it, now, because if he accepted in this condition he would be endangering others. But when his ribs heal, he hopes he can help. Something familiar in a strange environment.] But I hope I can help when this passes.
